Ascenty Releases 2024 ESG Report and Strengthens Sustainability Leadership in the Data Center Sector

Company Invests Over $125 Million in Infrastructure, Maintains Service Excellence, and Advances Environmental and Social Goals

Ascenty, a joint venture between Digital Realty and Brookfield Infrastructure, has released its 2024 ESG Report, highlighting consistent progress across environmental, social, and governance practices. The company was named “Company of the Year” by consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan and maintained its position in the NPS excellence zone for the seventh consecutive year.

“2024 was a landmark year for Ascenty. We reaffirmed our commitment to sustainable, ethical, and responsible development. We invested in technologies that enhanced energy efficiency, prioritized the use of certified renewable sources, and continued to deliver strong results in both energy and water efficiency indicators. All of this reinforces our responsible approach and dedication to applying the industry’s best practices,” said Chris Torto, CEO of Ascenty.

Environmental Highlights
Ascenty once again reinforced its commitment to net-zero Scope 2 emissions in Brazil, Chile, and now also Mexico. This means that 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions from data centers in those countries were neutralized through the purchase of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs). The company also fully offset its Scope 1 and 3 emissions through carbon credit purchases.

Ascenty also stood out with an average PUE of 1.42—significantly lower than the global average of 1.56—and zero WUE and CUE scores, thanks to its closed-loop cooling systems and full carbon neutrality. In waste management, Ascenty exceeded its Zero Landfill Program goal by sending 91.7% of waste to recycling, a 42% increase compared to the previous year.

Social Initiatives
As part of its commitment to developing young talent in the regions where it operates, Ascenty hired dozens of Young Apprentices across various departments in 2024. The program received national recognition through the Ser Humano HR Award, where Ascenty took first place in the “Young Talent” category, granted by ABRH-SP (Brazilian Association of Human Resources – São Paulo Chapter). Since its launch in 2013, the initiative has integrated 127 young people into the technology sector.

The company also continued to invest in employee development through its Ascenty University, which offered over 848 courses in 2024—a 41% increase compared to 2023. This growth was reflected in a 52% increase in average training hours per employee. Ascenty also made strides in its inclusion and equity practices: women now represent 31% of its workforce. To reinforce this commitment, the company maintains structured initiatives that promote diversity, including the “Elas por Elas” committee (Women for Women), as well as dedicated groups for People with Disabilities (PwD), Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation, and Ethnicity and Cultural Diversity.

Governance Practices
In governance, Ascenty signed the Ethos Institute’s Business Pact, assessed 100% of its operations for corruption risks, and ensured that all employees and partners were aligned with its anti-corruption policies. Certified under international ISO Compliance and Anti-Bribery Management standards, the company reaffirmed its ethical and responsible conduct, reflected also in the $125 million invested in infrastructure and services over the past year.

“This report reflects our commitment to sustainable, ethical, and transparent development. As a leader in Latin America’s data center industry, we have a responsibility to drive positive transformation for society and the planet,” said Torto.
